I only collect very limited personal data via this website:

  • Contact Form: When you fill in the contact form, I collect:

    • The message you write
  • Analytics Data: I use privacy-focused, cookie-less analytics to understand how people use the website. These tools report aggregated usage only, such as page views and referring sites; see more details below.
  • Technical Data: Like any website, the services that deliver and protect this site process technical information such as your IP address, browser, and device type when you visit.

3. How I Use Your Data

Here's what I do with the data I collect:

  • Contact Form:
    • I only use your submitted data (name, email, message) to reply to your enquiry.
    • I do not store these details in a database for long-term storage.
    • I do not sell your details or share them with anyone for their own purposes.
  • Analytics Data:
    • I use cookie-less analytics providers to measure aggregated site usage, page views, and user interactions. This helps me improve the website.
    • The data from these tools is used purely for statistical purposes; I do not combine it with your form data, and I do not attempt to identify you as an individual.

4. Service Providers

I use a small number of trusted providers to run this website. They process data only on my behalf and for the purposes below:

  • Cloudflare: delivers and protects this website, and provides Turnstile on the contact form to check that submissions come from a person rather than a bot. Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address and browser signals to do this.
  • Google Tag Manager: loads the analytics scripts on this website. When it loads, Google receives your IP address and browser details. I do not use Google Analytics or any Google advertising services.
  • Analytics providers: privacy-focused, cookie-less services that report aggregated usage statistics.
  • Hosting and email providers: host the service that receives contact form submissions and deliver your message to my inbox.

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

5. Legal Basis for Processing

When it comes to your personal data, the legal bases I rely on are:

  • Contact Form: Your consent when you voluntarily submit your details via the form.
  • Analytics, security, and technical data: my legitimate interests in keeping this website secure, protecting it from abuse, and understanding how it is used so I can improve it.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

This website does not use cookies for analytics, advertising, or tracking.

  • Security cookies: Cloudflare may set strictly necessary cookies (such as __cf_bm or cf_clearance) to tell people apart from bots and keep this website secure. These are exempt from consent under UK PECR.
  • Theme preference: if you switch between light and dark mode, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage so it is remembered next time. It never leaves your device.

Because of this, no cookie banner is required under UK PECR.

7. Data Retention

Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up. Analytics data is aggregated and does not identify you.

8. Data Security

I take reasonable steps to keep your data secure and ensure that any information you send is protected. However, no method of internet transmission is completely secure.

9. Your Rights (UK GDPR)

You have the right to:

  • Request a copy of any personal data you have sent
  • Request correction of inaccurate details
  • Request deletion of your form submission
  • Object to or restrict certain types of processing
  • Lodge a complaint with the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office)
